Minutes of meeting - Thursday, 13th February, 2003

Present: Paulo Quadros, Gillian McConnell, Fiona Shields, Pat Dakin, Sheena Campbell Apologies:

There were no matters arising from the last minutes.
Margaret has contacted the Rugby and Golf Clubs. She will meet with both next week.
The exhibition of art from the primary schools will be booked for the 1st of March in the East Church.
It is extremely likely that the Scottish Parliament?s Members Debate on Fairtrade will be held on the 6th of March.
Paulo has asked the Royal Bank for sponsorship of two thousand pounds to finance the Clan FM
roadshow, hopefully to be held on Saturday, the 8th of March . As soon as sponsorship comes through, Clan FM will promote the event.
The Co-op Bank has already allocated funds for this year.
Paulo has applied to SCIAF for a grant of two thousand pounds. He has also suggested that Strathaven Fairtrade could be featured in the next issue of their magazine.
The Ghana farmer should be visiting Strathaven on Saturday, the 8th of March. She will meet Fairtrade supporters.
Paulo has replied to a letter in Strathaven Echoes explaining the twinning with Aberfeldy.
Strathaven Academy is planning to have Fairtrade speakers at year group assemblies.
Negotiations
continue for the provision of a floral display by South Lanarkshire Council. There will be a small ceremony, with the press present, to hand over the Fairtrade certificate to the council.
Philomena will
organise a Fairtrade shop in the old Craft Bench from the 7th to the 10th of March. The premises will cost forty pounds.
There was a discussion of ways to promote Fairtrade Fortnight. There will
be a meeting next week to finalise ideas for posters and leaflets.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, the 20th of February.
